Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is a type of massage that focuses on the treatment of trigger points. They are called trigger points because they refer pain to another part of the body.

Trigger points are painful points located within taut bands of muscle, hypertonicity, and are treated primarily with the application of sustained, usually static pressure. Sometimes this is referred to as ischemic pressure and can vary from very light to heavy depending on the stage of development of the trigger point.

Through the softening of trigger points, NMT aims to reduce chronic pain, increase range of motion, and correct postural distortions.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles.

Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is also not uncommon for receivers of Deep Tissue Massage to become sore or even bruised over the next few days, though there should be no pain to the client during a session if the therapist is doing the work correctly.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massage can soothe many of the aches and pains associated with pregnancy such as sciatica, neck and back pain, upset stomach and swelling. It has also been shown to improve discomfort by encouraging circulation and by stretching the muscles and joints to their full range of motion to improve skin elasticity and body tone.

Call us to discuss having a prenatal massage anytime after your first trimester.

Sports Massage

Sports massage can be used before a sporting event, after or during the training process.  This style of massage helps prevent injury, increase performance, flexibility and range of motion.  Sports massage also relieves muscular cramps and tension and flushes toxins out of the body to decrease muscle soreness.   TOP

Relaxation Massage

A smooth, flowing style that promotes general relaxation, improves circulation and range of movement, and relieves muscular tension.  Swedish   TOP

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

The lymphatic system is a complex network of vessels and ducts that move fluid throughout the body and is responsible for moving toxins away from healthy cells and carrying germ-fighting materials to cells when they are under attack by viruses. Though fluid moves through the lymphatic system, it does not have its own pumping mechanism. Lymphatic drainage is a type of therapy that is intended to help the body produce a free-flowing lymphatic system.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a manual technique which uses a range of gentle rhythmic pumping techniques to move the skin in the direction of the lymph flow. This stimulates the lymphatic vessels that carry substances vital to the defense of the body, and removes waste products.
